I am Kanubhai Prajapati from Ahmedabad. In 2019, I was suffering from back pain for about seven months. I consulted my local doctors and was found to have stage four liver cancer. I consulted Dr Bhavesh Parikh (Oncologist) and underwent series of tests. My tumor was inoperable, this news was the devastating for me and my family. I was suffering from metastatic cholangiocarcinoma- an aggressive tumor of liver. My oncologist advised me to receive chemotherapy first. I decided to fight. I also felt like there was no room in my life for cancer. In other words, I didn’t have time for cancer. I didn’t want to have to stop my life. Finally, I received six cycles of chemotherapy which I tolerated well. On follow-up checkup my tumor started regressing in size and my oncologist gave me the news that I can explore the option of removing it by surgery. This was a new ray of hope for my cancer treatment.

I took several options for consideration of surgery for my liver tumor. Finally, I met Dr Hitesh Chavda at Sterling Hospital in Ahmedabad. He is one of the best in the western India to undertake this operation. We decided to get operated at Sterling Hospital after several meetings with him. A seven hours long surgery removed half of my right liver with a large tumor in it. I had an uneventful recovery and I was discharge from the hospital after seven days. My experiences at Sterling were exceptional. The staff was always smiling—never negative, and they took great care of me. Today, I am living a healthy and normal life. I am thankful to Dr Hitesh Chavda and Dr Bhavesh Parikh for giving me this new life. My family and friends were the source from which I drew strength, and I am thankful for every day that we have together.
