Less invasive, faster recovery
Minimally invasive laparoscopic procedures have become the common approach for most of the abdominal operations. This method utilizes several small incisions, ¼” to ½”, instead of one large incision. Fiber optic video cameras and specialized instruments are then used to carry out the procedure through these small incisions. This approach offers many advantages over the standard open approach:
Laparoscopic surgery is used for performing surgery in the following areas
Laparoscopic fundoplication
Laparoscopic resection of gastric GIST
Laparoscopic metastatectomy For metastatic GIST from liver
Laparoscopic removal of fecolith causing intestinal obstruction
Laparoscopic liver resection for liver cancer (HCC)
