I am Jaydeep Bhatt from Rajkot. I am 56 years old and I am working with PGVCL in Rajkot. In October 2017, I developed abdominal pain and bleeding in my stool. I consulted local doctors in Jamnagar where I was working and they have advised me to undergo colonoscopy and other tests. The colonoscopy revealed a tumor in my rectum. My CT scan showed that my rectal cancer was large and it had spread to my liver. I came to Ahmedabad for my treatment where I consulted a senior oncologist. I underwent series of test including a PET Scan which showed rectal cancer and multiple liver metastasis. My oncologist advised me to undergo chemotherapy first and then to evaluate for surgery. After completion of my chemotherapy, I consulted Dr Hitesh Chavda at Sterling Hospital. I had my first surgery in March 2018. I underwent laparoscopic APR Surgery and removal of my liver metastases. It was eight-hour long surgery where I did not require any blood transfusions. I was discharged from the hospital after 11 days. The recovery from surgery was smooth. I basically had to learn how to eat and manage the colostomy bag, but the post-care I received was tremendous.
After few months on follow-up PET Scan, I was found to have few more tumors in my right liver. After evaluation, Dr Hitesh Chavda advised me to consider removal of my right liver as this portion of liver had several small tumors. I underwent this second successful surgery in July 2018. I was discharged from the hospital after 8 days. After allowing time to heal, a couple of weeks after surgery, I started chemotherapy. I completed all suggested treatment and currently I am doing well and all my reports are normal.
